What Can Osteopathy Treat?
What does Osteopathy treat?
Osteopathy works in conjunction with and along side main stream medicine. You do not need a referral from your GP but any concerns should be discussed with your doctor. If at any point the Osteopath thinks your condition is beyond the scope of Osteopathic treatment, or has concerns or questions about other findings, you will immediately be referred to your GP or an appropriate health care practitioner.
Osteopathy may be able to help adults with many disorders:
- back and neck pain
- sciatica
- muscle, joint pain and arthritis
- headache, migraine and head injuries
- whiplash and other accident related injuries
- TMJ (jaw problems) and face pain
- post infection recovery
- post surgical recovery
- fatigue and insomnia
- gynaecological problems – period pain or irregularity
- pregnancy complications
For information on how treatment may be able to help children please see “Osteopathy for Babies & Children”.
In research taken out by Osteopath Clive Hayden into the effect of Cranial Osteopathy on babies, some mothers reported some of the following changes in their babies behaviour:
- reduced colicky crying
- improved sleep
- less irritable behaviour
- more quiet, happy times
